Manchester United sensation Kobbie Mainoo is the man of the moment, with Alejandro Garnacho not far behind at all.

Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho are bonded for life. They even made their debuts for the under-18s in the same game.

18 months later they were FA Youth Cup winners, and by the end of 2023, they were both established first team Manchester United players.

Now in March 2024, both youngsters are international stars. Mainoo made his first international start for England last night, with Garnacho following up for Argentina.

Kobbie Mainoo stars in England win

Kobbie Mainoo is still only 18, but you wouldn’t know it with the way he plays. The Manchester United teenager performs with the composure and awareness of a 10-year veteran.

Mainoo impressed Manchester United fans with his super-cool display in the 2-2 draw with Belgium, in which he played 75 minutes.

Gary Lineker also praised his performance, in which Mainoo helped to create the opening goal, with a driving run from midfield.

On a night where Ivan Toney scored his first England goal, and Jude Bellingham netted an equaliser, it was Kobbie Mainoo who was named man of the match.

The Manchester United midfielder shared a picture posing with his ‘player of the match’ award after the game.

Reaction to Mainoo performance

Alejandro Garnacho was the quickest player to comment on Kobbie Mainoo’s Instagram post. He was clearly proud of his Manchester United teammate.

Garnacho wrote ‘simply incredible’, in reference to Mainoo’s man of the match performance.

He’s right, it’s been an incredible rise, which Mainoo has managed make look so easy.

Mainoo played with such confidence at youth level for United, never looking troubled in possession, and he has brought this into the first team.

So it was no surprise at all to see him playing in exactly the same way at Wembley for England. What a player.
