Speaking to the reporters at Tuesday’s press conference, Mikel Arteta said: “All the preparation has been to achieve that [a Champions League semi-final].
Everything we have worked for the 10 months, and last season.
“Tomorrow we have an opportunity to make it happen.” Emotion is needed in football, it is about tweaking the right person at the right time to have that. We did that well in London, we took the lead, then five minutes they are ahead.
“We did well not to throw the game away, we got back in the game and were looking for a winner. Most of our players have not experienced this [Champions League football], they are super motivated and confident.
“Depending on their approach, I want our team to be ourselves. Sometimes your opponent doesn’t allow you, but we are looking at the best way to win the game. If we make semi-final, we would be in a high emotional state.”
Arsenal have everything to play for against Bayern Munich on Wednesday after the 2–2 in the quarter-final first-leg clash in London earlier this month.
Success in the Champions League could save the Gunners’ 2023/24 season given that the Premier League title now appears to be out of reach.
