Atletico Madrid have declared an interest in signing Robert Lewandowski in the summer, reports Spanish journalist Ruben Uria.
The Rojiblancos understand that Barca could be willing to offload Lewandowski and would be ready to come up with a fairly decent bid for the striker.
It’s hard to see how this would happen as Atleti already have strikers like Angel Correa and Alvaro Morata on their payroll. They also own powerful young striker Samu Omorodion who is doing remarkably well on loan at Alaves.
Lewandowski is one of Barca’s highest earners whose exit would seriously lighten the wage bill given he turns 36 next August. But the Polish captain continues to insist he loves life in Barcelona and wants to stay for his family.
If Lewandowski were to leave Barca you’d imagine he would move to the United States where he could put his feet up in the sun like Leo Messi, Luis Suarez and other Barca legends are doing.
Lewandowski has bagged 20 goals and nine assists this season despite the campaign being a difficult one for him.
