Declan Rice, a star for Arsenal, has said that the Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is the kind of player he wishes he could have played with.
Gerrard, while in the height of his career, was among the game’s top midfielders for club and nation.
Against a top AC Milan team in the 2005–2006 UFEA Champions League final, the former Liverpool captain famously guided the Reds to a tremendous three-goal comeback victory.
Gerrard was frequently likened to Frank Lampard, a Chelsea great, while he was playing in the Premier League.
But Gerrard, not Lampard, was Rice’s dream choice; he was a former Chelsea youth player.
In an interview with @LFCTransferRoom on X, the England midfielder revealed:
“Stevie G. is the one I’m going with. There was perpetual comparison between him and Lampard.
“Lamps would also work. Stevie G, there’s just something about him—even if I love him as a player.
