Harry Maguire was blown away by what two ‘incredible’ Manchester United teammates did against Liverpool

Harry Maguire was blown away by what two of his Manchester United teammates did against Liverpool and credited them for the dramatic victory.

Manchester United are still basking in the glow of their remarkable 4-3 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag’s side twice fought back from behind before clinching the game with a last-gasp Amad Diallo winner to book a ticket to Wembley.

United will face Championship side Coventry City in the semi-final and are strong favourites to reach a second final in a row.

Harry Maguire has pinpointed both Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho for praise and was blown away by their extra-time performances.

Speaking to The Times, Maguire said: “Credit to the forward lads.

“Because they were a constant threat, especially in the later stages.

“Rashy [Rashford] and Garna [Garnacho] played all the game, credit to them and their fitness levels.

“They were incredible in extra time.”

Maguire also spoke of the importance of United performing well, and hopefully winning, the FA Cup.

“To have a good run in the FA Cup is important and beat a big team along the way,” he added.

“It’s a huge result for us to keep that faith that we’ve still got a chance to win a trophy this season.

“The atmosphere was incredible and it was really important to give the fans something they deserved, to go home and cheer about.”

United best forward three is obvious

It’s no coincidence that United’s best result and most stirring performance of the season occurred when the side’s best front three was reunited.

Substitutes Amad and Antony may have grabbed the crucial goals, but the foundation of a strong performance was laid with the return of Rasmus Hojlund.

The Danish striker was rusty in front of goal on his return from injury but just his presence alone lifted United.

Hojlund spearheads the attack and gives Rashford, Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes a focal point to play off and be creative.

Hojlund only lasted 70 minutes but he’d already done enough to boost the attack’s confidence.

Rashford and Garnacho were both tireless and dangerous going forward, with the former especially returning to his best now he’s back on the left flank.

United need to keep all four injury-free if they want to turn the dreary season into a successful one.
