An extension keeping Gareth Taylor with Manchester City until 2027 has been inked.
Taylor, who assumed charge of the Citizens in May 2020, is 51 years old and, following a successful 2023–24 season, has a shot at winning the Women’s Super League title this year.
In the Women’s Super League (WSL), City are presently riding a 12-game winning streak across all competitions, tying them for first place with Chelsea, the reigning champions.
When asked about his decision to extend his contract with City for another three years, he expressed his happiness on the club’s official website.
What we’re attempting to accomplish here is, in my opinion, a sustainable and fruitful long-term undertaking.
Being at the top has always been our goal, and we’ve achieved it.
A large number of individuals have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this happen. The team’s members are fully committed to our goals and objectives.
City have been on fire as of late, with impressive victories over Chelsea and Arsenal adding fuel to the fire as they aim for their first WSL championship since 2016.
After 15 games in the league, Taylor’s squad has allowed just nine goals, good enough for first place in England’s premier flight.
So far throughout his time, he has captured the Women’s FA Cup and the Conti Cup, and he is still hoping to win both championships this term.
I am really happy that Gareth has agreed to keep up his excellent work in our program for the next few years,” commented football director Nils Nielsen.
Having Gareth at the helm of the squad is a crucial part of our plan for the future.
“Now we can all focus on finishing this season in style and prepare for the next few seasons by following the plan.”
