After three years in the international wilderness, Marc Cucurella was given a rather unexpected chance in the Spain squad this week.
Not only that, he was handed a start in the prestige friendly against Brazil last night, and ended up playing the whole game.
Up against some of the world’s best attacking talent, the former Getafe man really held his own, and social media was glowing with a rare bout of praise for him.
He got solid marks on WhoScored and other rating sites, and looking to be linking up well with rumoured €50m transfer target Nico Williams down the left.
Whether we still want to sell Cucurella or decide he should be kept as a backup, it’s great to see him doing well for his country, and we hope this translates into good club form too – he’s going to be an important rotation option in these closing weeks of the season.
