Phil Foden’s spectacular performance was the difference as Manchester City rallied from a goal down to defeat Manchester United 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium in the derby.
Despite dominating play for most of the first half, the host team headed into halftime trailing United, who had taken the lead on a magnificent piledriver from Marcus Rashford in the eighth minute.
But Foden equalized with a stunning goal of his own, and he scored a brace with 10 minutes remaining to put United out of it.
Thanks to a late goal by Erling Haaland, Man City secured a vital three points and are now within striking distance of Liverpool in anticipation of next week’s matchup.
The three worst players in the game are these:
“Garnacho Alejandro”
Passed up a fantastic early chance just before Marcus Rashford scored. He failed to unsettle City on his debut derby appearance.
Leonardo DiClemente
After 56 minutes, Foden scored because he easily beat the Sweden captain. When it came to the United defense, Lindelof was often a liability.
Kevin McTominay
Despite being a teammate, he isn’t a threat on the counterattack due to his lack of speed and accurate passing.
