It’s going to take a couple of days to digest this stinging defeat to Burnley, but after that there’s no time to waste.
Chelsea are back in action on Thursday and again on Sunday next week.
Two games will give us the chance to move on quickly, but how do we get good results? What changes can Mauricio Pochettino make?
We hope to have Trevoh Chalobah and Carney Chukwuemeka back from injury, and both of them feel like they have a good chance of returning to the team, as does Ben Chilwell at left back.
But will those 3 simple subs give this team the fight and desire they lacked yesterday? It’s hardly like Mykhailo Mudryk, Marc Cucurella and Benoit Badiashile (the players they would likely replace) were the main issues, it was a collective failure of nerve, and shuffling players in and out can only help so much.
What we need is a total mentality shift – and that’s hard to pull off in a few days.
