Rasmus Hojlund has simply not rediscovered his goalscoring form from the start of 2024.
He set a record for scoring in consecutive games but his impact has dulled since the return from injury.
When asked about Hojlund’s drop in numbers, Erik ten Hag told reporters: “He was in a fantastic run and then broke his rhythm [due to injury].
“Why? I think there are always many reasons why. For instance, he was in the moment when he was in a run, we had a moment where we had many players available.
“We could bring out a strong side. After he returned [from injury] we have to make compromises.
“And yeah – of course – that decreases, the performance. And that is also an impact on everyone. So also on the striker.”
Hojlund would do well to find his scoring boots as Manchester United prepare for a season-defining FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City.
