“Wide open”… Former Man Utd defender criticises Erik ten Hag’s tactics during Bournemouth clash…(Read more)

Manchester United drew 2-2 with Bournemouth in the Premier League, in what was another seriously disappointing display.

Erik ten Hag just can’t seem to get it right at the moment. Manchester United are not playing attractive football, much to the frustration of Red Devils fans around the globe.

This is now a serious worry. Ten Hag has had nearly two years in charge at the helm of United, yet they still lack a distinct style of play.

It’s been particularly noticeable as of late.

Manchester United are struggling

It has been a rough couple of months for United. A sea of bad performances has cast further doubt as to whether Ten Hag is the right man for the job at Old Trafford.

The tactics have been abysmal in the past few Premier League fixtures. Against Bournemouth, this was no different. If it wasn’t for Bruno Fernandes, United would have 100% lost the game.

It’s becoming increasingly more painful to watch the Red Devils. In all honesty, they’ve looked all over the place.

The blame must be pinned on the Manchester United manager. He needs to change his tactical plans for the remainder of the campaign.

Danny Higginbotham on United

Manchester United’s tactical problems are extremely noticeable. United are often outclassed in games, which was once again apparent against the Cherries.

Ten Hag’s system is not working. He needs to switch things up. Former United defender, Danny Higginbotham commented on this during the Bournemouth fixture:

‘Man United at worst when they dominate possession. Absolutely wide open. No plan or identity when have to force the issue. Front 4 press high, back 4 drop off and then midfield 2 asked to cover the amount of ground that 4 central midfielders couldn’t.’

We can’t help but agree. It’s blatantly obvious to see the issues with the way United are playing, yet Ten Hag seems strangely reluctant to change his ways.

It’s now turning out to be a very disappointing Premier League campaign, and we can’t help but point the finger at the Dutchman.

The FA Cup is still a possibility. Let’s hope the lads perform better against Coventry… and the tactics improve.
